The 2TB AV Drive External Hard Drive from CalDigit is a high-performance external hard drive, compatible with Mac and Windows computer systems. It features USB 3.0 and FireWire-800 connectivity for maximum performance and is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and FireWire-400 hosts -- albeit at slower speeds.The drive is capable of sustained transfer rates of up to 145MB/sec when connected via USB 3.0. If you opt for a FireWire-800 connection, speeds will be about 85MB/sec. A USB 3.0 controller card, compatible with Mac and Windows systems with an available PCI Express slot, is included. An optional ExpressCard/34 adapter for notebooks is available from CalDigit. The drive is housed in an aluminum enclosure with a temperature-controlled smart fan, ensuring cool and quiet operation.
